A decade of service to the motherland by Child Lanka.

Child Lanka Organisation is a registered charity set up in the United Kingdom 9 years ago to help children’s education in the rural areas of Sri Lanka.  During the last few years many children from different parts of the country, Monaragala, Padeniya, Anuradhapura and Mahiyangana have benefitted from our sponsorship programme.  At present nearly seventy children from the Uva Province (Mahiyangana) and the Sourthern Province (Baddegama) are being educated through this project.  We also organise work shops from time to time to give these children and their parents encouragement they need.  Due to the kindness of our sponsors we have been able to provide this gift of education to the poorest children of our society.

By giving just £5 (Rs. 1,000) a month you will be helping a child to educate and change the life for better.  The monies they receive are deposited in their bank pass books through the Child Lanka co-ordinator in Sri Lanka supervised by the headmasters of the respective schools.  All the children thank their sponsors by  writing letters and sending their school reports.  Our support is vital to the future of these children.  So if anyone is interested in helping a child please get in touch with our charity – www.childlanka.com.

Child Lanka committee would like to take this opportunity to mention a few words about the charitable contributions we have already made to our motherland.  Madaoya library is one of the successful  projects which was completed in the year 2012.  The school was due to be closed down.  Fortunately with the intervention of Child Lanka,  opening of the library and sponsoring children from this school not only saved the school from closing down but also gave a new lease of life to the school.  Today 150 more children are being educated in this school.   The computer we gifted to the library this year has provided more facilities for their studies.

In addition, over the years we have gifted computers to the vocational training centre in Monaragala.  We also have supplied dry rations to the flood victims and donated funds to a sponsored child to rebuild her house which was destroyed by fire.  In 2009 the funds which were collected through charitable dinner dance were gifted to the children of deceased soldiers.  Also earlier this year (2015) we were able to set up  e-library facilities at the Nivithigala Maha Vidyalaya, Ratnapura.

Although Child Lanka is a small charity, we are delighted with the progress we have made so far.  We have come a long way and have been able to achieve our goals with the help of our sponsors and supporters .  We do appreciate all the continuing generosity.  Child Lanka Committee also would like to express its deepest  gratitude to all who have contributed in numerous ways to make a significant difference to the lives of many needy children of Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile we are embarking on another new project to build a school hall for the Madaoya school.  To raise funds for this project,  we are organising a dinner dance on the 5th December 2015.  We invite friends and everyone who  likes  to help in this project,  to extend their support by buying the tickets and  participating  in our fund raising event and helping us in whatever way they wish.  Whatever the way you choose to help us, your generosity will be valued and appreciated.

Finally on behalf of Child Lanka Committee we thank you all for the support given to our children in need in our mother Lanka.
