Our Founders Message
“I was brought up to believe that compassion and humanity rewards the person giving more than those who receive. If someone has the ability to give a light to create a better future for deprived child, those merits will follow you immensely.” – Padma Priya Siriwardene
We established ourselves as an organisation in the year 2007 in UK. We are a group of people with a strong commitment to our work. Since launching our organisation we were carrying out our services in Sri Lanka as well as in London.
In June we organised the first dinner dance in Hayes. We invited all who showed an interest to join as a member. Since then we have been actively organising and participating in many activities in UK representing the Sri Lankan community. Our main activities were to organise social and religious events on behalf of the Sri Lankan community in UK.
We found the sponsors for 10 children and increased it to 38 by the end of March 2008. We have organised musical shows, dinner dances, car boot sales, market stalls, garden parties, garage sales, and raffle draws. We are collecting donations to raise funds.
Child Lanka Organisation deals with providing secondary education for children from under-privileged families from rural areas of Sri Lanka. Sponsors contribute a monthly payment of £5, towards the expenses of a child’s education. Our organisation is currently providing financial support for 60 children, from selected schools and hopes to expand this venture up to 100.
